SensusFit, is a comprehensive fitness tracking and data analytics tool that enables Apple Watch users to visualize fitness and exercise data, keep track of progress over time and benchmark progress against peers.

SensusFit collects data from Apple HealthKit and uploads your daily activities (e.g. walks, runs, swims etc.) and activity data (e.g. steps, distance, activity time, calories burned, heart rate, sleep, etc.) from the Apple HealthKit to the SensusFit App. SensusFit App tracks and analyses your data and presents it in a digital, practical, analytical, visual way.

SensusFit includes the following features, tracking, analysing and presenting the following activities, with more features under development coming soon:

F-Score

SensusFit utilizes an algorithm to allocate to you, on a daily basis, F-Score Points (pts), for each of the 12 daily activities: steps, stairs, distance, stand hours, active hours, exercise minutes, workouts, moderate minutes, vigorous minutes, resting energy, active energy, and total energy.  The algorithm adjusts your allocated pts to take into account your heart rate intensity during your daily active time.  The scale of F-Score is built to reflect the World Health Organisation (WHO) recommendations for daily physical activity for adults.

Your daily targeted F-Score is 100 pts.

  1. When you earn 100 pts during a given day, it means that your daily physical activity matches the WHO recommendation: Adults aged 18–64 should do at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic physical activity throughout the week or do at least 75 minutes of vigorous-intensity aerobic physical activity throughout the week or an equivalent combination of moderate – and vigorous-intensity activity.

For additional health benefits your daily targeted F-Score should be 150 pts.

  1. A score of 150 F-Score pts reflects the WHO recommendation for additional health benefits: adults should increase their moderate intensity aerobic physical activity to 300 minutes per week, or engage in 150 minutes of vigorous-intensity aerobic physical activity per week, or an equivalent combination of moderate – and vigorous – intensity activity.

F-Score Scale

The F-Score Scale, built to reflect the WHO recommendations as described above, starts from 0 with no upper limit, although, even a professional athlete will straggle to achieve more than 250 points on a consistent basis.

For a healthy life, target to achieve, over time, an average F-Score of above 100 pts.  Compare your average F-Score, over time, on the following scale in order to track your fitness level:

Score Performance Range
>250 Professional Athlete
>200 Athletic
>150 Exceptionally Fit
>100 Well Fit
>80 Moderately Fit
>50 Minimally Fit
>30 Non-Fit
<30 In-Active

Number of Steps tracking

Steps count is the number of steps you take throughout the day.  The generally accepted convention for number of steps per day is 10,000 steps, as such the default target set by SensusFit app is 10,000 per day.

Distance walked or run

Distance walked/run count is the distance in kilometres (km) you cover (walking or running) throughout the day.  The generally accepted convention for distance covered per day is 8 km, as such the default target set by SensusFit app is 8 km per day.

Number of Flights/Stairs climbed

Number of flights/stairs climbed count is number of staircases you climb throughout the day.  A staircase is counted as approximately 3 meters (10 feet) of elevation gain (approximately 16 steps).  The default target set by SensusFit app is 10 staircases per day.

Number of Stand Hours

A ‘stand hour’ is an hour throughout the day, during which the user stood and moved around a little for at least one minute.  The default target set by SensusFit app is 12 stand hours per day.

Number of Active Hours

An ‘active hour’ is an hour throughout the day, during which the user has taken at least 250 steps.  The default target set by SensusFit app is 12 active hours per day.

Number of Exercise Minutes

An exercise minute is any minute throughout the day, during which the user was moving with an intensity equal or exceeding the intensity of a brisk walk.   The default target set by SensusFit app is 45 exercise minutes per day.

Workouts

SensusFit app keeps a library with all the workouts of the user recorded by his/her smartwatch.  For each workout SensusFit app presents detailed information including heart rate charts.

Number of Moderate & Vigorous Intensity Minutes

According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), adults aged 18–64 years, should do at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity or at least 75 minutes of vigorous-intensity physical activity throughout the week or an equivalent combination of moderate- and vigorous-intensity activity. For additional health benefits, adults should increase their moderate-intensity physical activity to 300 minutes per week, or equivalent.

SensusFit App tracks your daily activity and utilizes an algorithm to measure your moderate-intensity and vigorous-intensity minutes of physical activity, where:

Moderate Intensity Minutes: Physical activity minutes during which caloric consumption is equivalent to 3 to 6 Metabolic Equivalents (METs).  For example: brisk walking, dancing, gardening, household chores, playing with kids.

Vigorous Intensity Minutes: Physical activity minutes during which caloric consumption is equivalent to more than 6 Metabolic Equivalents (METs).  For example: running, cycling, hill climbing, aerobics, swimming, competitive sports.

Metabolic Equivalents (METs) are commonly used to express the intensity of physical activities.  MET is the ratio of a person’s working metabolic rate relative to their resting metabolic rate. One MET is defined as the energy cost of sitting quietly and is equivalent to a caloric consumption of 1kcal/kg/hour. It is estimated that compared with sitting quietly, a person’s caloric consumption is three to six times higher when being moderately active (3-6 METs) and more than six times higher when being vigorously active (>6 METs).

Active Energy

Active energy count is an estimate of energy burned over and above the Resting Energy.  Active energy includes activities such as walking slowly and household chores as well as all more intensive activities, such as running, cycling or dancing. The default target set by SensusFit app is 750 kcal per day.

Resting Energy

Resting energy count is an estimate of energy burned used by the user’s each day while minimally active (including sitting and sleeping).  The default target set by SensusFit app is 1,750 kcal per day.

Total Energy

Total energy count is the sum of Active Energy and Resting Energy. The default target set by SensusFit app is 2,500 kcal per day.

Heart Rate Analysis

SensusFit app presents an analysis of the user’s heart rate during the day including a daily heart rate chart as well as a heart rate zone analysis and other statistics (resting heart rate, max, min and average heart rate).

Sleep Analysis

Sleep analysis provides insights into the user’s sleeping habits such as time asleep, sleep and weak-up times, as well as heart rate analysis during sleeping time.
